Ponysaurus Brewing Co.
About This Spot
Walking into Ponysaurus Brewing Co. is like stepping into a vibrant gathering spot where the day unfolds at a comfortable, unhurried pace. Nestled along Market Street in Wilmington, this brewery-restaurant feels both spacious and inviting, with thoughtfully distinct areas to settle into—from a lively bar to a tucked-away garden, even a welcoming front porch that catches the afternoon light just right. There’s an easygoing energy here that encourages lingering conversations, laughter, and the simple pleasure of being present with friends or strangers alike.
The atmosphere strikes a balanced note between casual and curated. Warm wood tones and subtle seasonal touches create a backdrop where every detail feels intentional but never overdone. Whether it’s the glow of string lights in the outdoor beer garden or the friendly hum of activity inside, Ponysaurus invites you to unwind, sip slowly, and savor moments as much as the flavors on your plate or in your glass.
Food and drink come together as part of the experience rather than the main event—though the offerings do wonders to complement the mood. The pizzas share the spotlight with carefully crafted brews, each pairing reflecting a local sensibility and a willingness to explore unexpected tastes. From the comfort of cheesy classics to the spark of Calabrian chili heat or the herbal undertone of their Pilsner, each bite and sip feels like a small discovery. The menu’s thoughtful touches, like house-made sauces and fresh salads, add a quiet brightness that keeps things fresh without rushing the pace.
Regulars appreciate the layers of space and the genuine warmth found in the service as much as the beer or food itself. There's a hint of playfulness in the way staff engage, with moments that feel personal and unforced, making visitors feel less like customers and more like part of the ongoing story of the place. All told, Ponysaurus Brewing Co. strikes a friendly, approachable chord—a place to come as you are, whether for a midday lunch or a relaxed evening with good company.

I really like Ponysaurus beers as I had tried several before my trip to Wilmington, so when I saw they had a location in town I had to try it. I was not disappointed. We had a flight of beers and we really liked all of them. They have a long bar and bar booths in the main hall, a good number of tables upstairs and a nice outdoor area with picnic tables. We didn't try the pizza but we had many pies carried by servers past our table that looked and smelled incredible. We were there on a Saturday night and the service was still quick and efficient even with a pretty good size crowd. I highly recommend this place!

I really like what Ponysaurus has done with this space. It's a fun place to hang out in any season with 4 different seating areas that break it up and make it feel really spacious: front porch, hidden beer garden (dogs allowed in outdoor space), indoor bar area, and indoor upstairs. They put a lot of thought and effort into decor, especially around the holidays with lots of lights! There are a number of solid beers to pick from, but even better are the frozen cocktails and mocktails (especially on a hot summer day on the patio)! There is almost certainly a beverage for everyone here. They offer a variety of decent bar food options and snacks (the buffalo wings with ranch are great), but you have to order those using a weird QR code (some of which don't work, but you can't order food from the bartender) either below your barstool or on your table. The only service with the food is that someone will bring it to your table; there is no designated wait staff, which can be awkward if you need something. Overall, this is a fun place to bring the whole family or friends and I highly recommend for the vibes alone!

Excellent Food, Excellent Vibes! I have been wanting to visit Ponysaurus for a while now locally in Raleigh where I am from and found myself recently in the Wilmington area on a business trip and found this location while I was looking for somewhere to go for dinner so I decided to stop in. Man, was I impressed! The burger I had was seriously hands down one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! The staff was super friendly and very relaxing to talk to, made you feel like you were hanging out at a familiar place. I could definitely see myself stopping in regularly if I was local! Do yourself a favor and go check it out if you are in the area, you won’t regret it!

We were the first ones in on a hot day at 11:00 am. Our beertender was cheerful and pleasant. The appetizers were quite good, awesome olives! Sandwich choices plentiful. And our beer, the reason we went, did not disappoint. An excellent saison and a Scottish ale that was my personal favorite. Some optional flavors and styles in the “to go” cooler as well.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you go to Ponysaurus, prepare yourself for Leo. I came in for a drink… but let’s be honest — I stayed for Leo, the Greek demigod behind the bar. Long brown hair, piercing brown eyes, and a body that looks like it was handcrafted by the gods themselves. The man could probably lift a keg with one arm while mixing a cocktail with the other. And the service? Let’s just say he pours drinks with the same intensity he makes eye contact — smooth, confident, and a little dangerous in the best way. Friendly, attentive, and absolutely unforgettable. If Ponysaurus had a loyalty program based solely on Leo, I’d be Platinum by now. Do yourself a favor — order something from the bar and enjoy the view.

This is an awesome brewery with so much to offer! They serve excellent beers along with a variety of other drinks, making it a place anyone can enjoy. A big bonus is their great food and the menu has plenty of tasty options to choose from. There’s ample seating both indoors and outdoors, and the atmosphere is always warm and inviting. Service was excellent, making the whole experience even better.

We decided to eat here after a trip to the Children’s Museum, we were walking by and thought, “why not?” And wow, we were not disappointed. We didn’t know what to expect but were quickly blown away. I don’t usually like ordering online at the table, but in this instance it worked to our favor because we had three very hungry kids and food came out very fast once we submitted our order. I ordered a GF pizza for myself and my husband along with a regular pepperoni pizza for the kids, some Thai chili chicken wings, and a GF burger with pimento cheese. First, this is one of the best GF pizzas we’ve had in Wilmington (second only to Benny’s) even my husband, who doesn’t have to eat GF, just does in solidarity, agreed it was phenomenal. Everyone was happy with the chicken wings and we loved the burger as well. Everything was a little pricey bc we had to pay extra for the GF items, but honestly I have to say it was worth the price. Overall we are extremely happy with the food and next time we want to eat outside, we didn’t even know they had a huge outdoor patio space! We can’t wait to go back.

This was fantastic! We were looking for a place that included gluten-free options, because my fiancé is gluten-sensitive, and the pizza didn't disappoint. She loved it. I had a pizza with regular crust, and it was just as good! We will absolutely go back here again!
